- Drug testing (e.g. chemosensitivity)

To test the efficiency of a drug previous to the start of a therapy the reaction of an individual biopsyEffect of doxorubicin toward MCF-7 cells toward the drug can be detected with the IMOLA system. The graph at the right side shows the effect of doxorubicin toward MCF-7 cells compared to a control experiment.

- Environmental monitoring (e.g. water quality)

Using algae and the BioChip-C in an IMOLA-system one can detect the presence of toxins in water.Chemical structure of 17alpha-EE Applications range from monitoring of drinking water quality toward the measurement at sewage plants to shelter its biology.

- Toxicokinetic experiments (e.g. alternative method for animal experiments)

 3T3 fibroblasts

To avoid animal experiments it is possible to perform experiments in toxicology using living cells. The figure aside shows the change in extracellular acidification of 3T3 fibroblasts after addition of mercury. Furthermore it is possible to monitor the recovery phase of the cells after removal of the toxin.
